Check out this awesome comic by Dragons story artist Johane Matte (rufftoon)! Although it isn't an official comic, it was inspired by an alternate opening sequence in How to Train Your Dragon 2. Below are the links to all five parts of the comic!

ReplyDeleteJust about to read it now!
ReplyDeleteCOOL!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like it :D
ReplyDeleteWOW! This is great! And also can fit to the movie! I mean only know that the "Dragon Rider with it's ice breathing dragon" (Erets quotes) were attacking them. And this could be the story of what happened there!
ReplyDeleteHey mabye Rufftoon will be allowed to sell them if he asks DreamWorks?
ReplyDeleteI would buy it! But I would want it colored (or both xD)
Funfact! She was a storyboard artist for the first movie (maybe for the second too?)
ReplyDeletehttp://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Johane_Matte
Awesome!!
ReplyDeleteA little bit of a SPOILER so don't read the rest if you haven't seen the movie yet..
ReplyDelete.
.
.
Did anyone notice that the Tv show was foreshadowing some of the stuff that would happen in the movie? Some examples.
1.Fright of passage episode..foreshadowed that toothless would glow in the movie
2.Free Scauldy episode..foreshadowed the mimicking Astrid does to hiccup because in the episode Ruffnut mimics him the same way.
3.The Eel Effect episode..forshadowed that Toothless would get sort of "hypnotized" and turn against Hiccup.
I noticed that too.
ReplyDeleteyeah i noticed that to heh speaking of astrd i think my favorite scene with her aside from the hiccstrid feels actually it is kinda hiccstrid its when she was telling eret about him i was like very good astrid show us why you and hiccup are equals
ReplyDeleteI think these "foreshadowing" things are a bit to much far-fetched.
ReplyDeleteI mean in Fright of passage the glowing water / algae and not a reaction of toothless himself!
In Eel Effect it was the Eel which effected the dizziness like Eel would be a "drug" for dragons with bad side effects... He is not "hypnotized" in that episode
And to the Free Scauldy episode: I don't know what you mean xD
Happy Birthday GallifreyanDragon!!!
ReplyDeleteThat was Aaaaawesome. I would love to see that as an alternate opening option for the DVD/Bluray release. To bad its not official.
ReplyDeleteI hope they'll have it on the DVD too!
ReplyDeleteEeeeeeeppp
ReplyDeleteMy b days on the 19th
ReplyDeleteRead it on dA and it's cool!
ReplyDeleteSPOILER:
ReplyDeleteHey have seen that part where Astrid is captured and how she's speaking for her home her tribe and Speak really high of Hiccup and how she talks about Hiccup being the Dragon Master (name of the next series TV show) that was like awesome
Hm... the way I see it, this is not exactly an alternate opening sequence, this should takes place before Hiccup, Astrid, Toothless and Stormfly found Eret and his men on the frozen fort. This should explain what happened with them before Hiccup and Astrid found them. Nice.
ReplyDeleteIs it spoilery? can i read it? :)
ReplyDeleteActually, I saw this a couple of days ago
ReplyDeletehey cool ! happy birthday !!
ReplyDeleteAnother birthday ? cool ! happy birthday !
ReplyDeleteImpressive !
ReplyDeleteThis is soooo good !! Great opening, more dramatic, and we get a closer look at Eret's motives. And wonderfully laid-out and drawn !
ReplyDeleteReally nice, I'd like to see more of it! :-)
ReplyDeletehappy birthday! :D
ReplyDeleteI still feel a bit offended that they acted like Thornado never existed.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how Stoick and Skullcrusher meet in the new Dragon series.
Or how Hiccup goes through puberty and what the others say. MAN, that would be a great episode! It'll be funny how Snotlout reacts. XD
Oh, what about inferno?
Ok so this explains a lot because I remember in the movie when Hiccup and Astrid found Eret's base and it was blone apart by Valka's Bewiderbeast
ReplyDeleteI know there was different reasons why the stuff happened in the episode and the movie. I'm just saying I think the writer at least got their inspiration from those parts in the movie.
ReplyDeleteYea exactly! there is actually more but I couldn't remember when I was typing the post.
ReplyDeleteThere's an Easter egg for Thornado :D Check out the banner behind Stoick and co in the pic below!
ReplyDeletehttp://i.imgur.com/WYgiabV.png
I really cant see it.
ReplyDeleteYeah I love this comic. It's so awesome! I really wish they had put this scene in the movie XD
ReplyDeleteHow about this one?
ReplyDeletehttp://i.imgur.com/yVXqFuJ.png
They were going to but decided against it.
ReplyDeleteThe horn could be in honour of him, but the banner behind them is not Thornado. I think I've seen that dragon in the books, or something really close to it.
ReplyDeleteWait a sec... you're a girl? :O
ReplyDeletei was gonna upload that
ReplyDeleteyeah I know what u mean
ReplyDeleteyeah, if this was real life I would be a talking flower xD
ReplyDeleteplot twist! :D
ReplyDeleteIn the last panel of part five, you can see Hiccup and Astrid coming around the bend. Cool, huh?
ReplyDeleteGuys! Guess who got a sheep tossing Toothless with race paint for his birthday? This guy
ReplyDeleteTalk about advertising.
ReplyDeleteSo, there is something you need to know about our role play after you got knocked out.
ReplyDelete:D Nope! I read what was written after I left. So, I'm still unconscious, Whisp is either dead or badly hurt, um, Faith's in a relationship with Hiccup, Uh, Borpheus is still there right? What's happening next?
ReplyDeleteNo, he fled after you all got knocked out. Hiccup got hurt more and Borpheus and Borpheus whipped Hiccup in the back of the head, unfortunately blinding him in his right eye.
ReplyDeleteI have a Toothless model about the same size that my dad got me for christmas. It's not from HTTYD 2, but it breathes out glowing blue smoke and it shoots plastic plasma blasts. I love it.XD XD
ReplyDeleteDidn't you stab him in the eye so Toothless's spit could heal by soaking in?
ReplyDeleteI may've done?
ReplyDeleteHaha, well all's well that ends well right?
ReplyDeleteDo you wanna continue, or not?
ReplyDeleteSure. Is Faith here?
ReplyDeleteNope, but she could still be sleeping with Hiccup.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Ok, Let's do it.
ReplyDeleteArvendole: *Slowly wakes up, then jumps up* Where's Borpheus? Where'd he go?
Loutsly/Pride: The b@$tard escaped
ReplyDeleteTo the top of the page
ReplyDeletekay.
ReplyDeleteHow are you feeling, Arvendole?
ReplyDeleteUm, like my head got chopped off then reattached.
ReplyDeletePffffff! Borpheus! I'm going to kill him! *Looks over and sees Faith and Hiccup sleeping peacefully together*
Awwww, that's so cute! Um, I mean, ewwwww, romance! Glad that's not me. (completely different character :D)
*Arvendole notices more bandaged than before and one of his eyes was covered by a rag*
ReplyDelete*points* Well, that doesn't look good. What happened while I was out?
ReplyDeleteBorpheus! He... He blinded Hiccup in the right eye.
ReplyDeleteWell, that sucks. Will it heal?
ReplyDeleteYeah, but I had to stab him in the eye and use Toothless' saliva to heal it.
ReplyDeleteOw. *Looks in the distance* Um, should we be worried about that? *Points in the distance, where a large island sits with many dragons flying around it*
ReplyDeletePerhaps, but I think you might be hurt.
ReplyDelete*Arvendole notices Pride has an arrow wound.
Well so are you. Did one of Borpheus's men shoot you? *Points to the island* Maybe those dragons are friendly as well. I mean, Toothless was friendly. Maybe that's where Hiccup comes from!
ReplyDeleteNo, tried to kill myself. Apparently, Faith doesn't want me to die, even though she tried to kill me.
ReplyDeleteThat's confusing. How'd you shoot yourself with a bow and arrow at such close range? Nevermind, it seems we're all in need of medical attention. Let's get to the island, see if there's anyone there that will help us.
ReplyDeleteI know this place. We shouldn't stay too long.
ReplyDeleteWhy not? What's it called?
ReplyDeleteThis... is Breakneck Bog.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't sound fun. Maybe we should turn around. *Looks around* One problem. We have no paddles.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think we need to restock our supplies. And get some rest outside of this Thor Damn dinghy. *rubs sore behind*
ReplyDeleteI'm really seeing your point of view right now. I don't care what island this is, I need to get out of this boat. How bad can it be?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by "How can it be?"
ReplyDeleteHow bad can it be? :)
ReplyDeleteSnake slithers near Arvendole's leg
ReplyDeletePride: Very. Go pick up Faith and take her to that Cave with Toothless. I'll handle Hiccup.
*Shudders then mumbles* I hate snakes. *Says louder* It's a good thing we have Toothless with us for protection. *Picks up Faith then walks to the cave*
ReplyDelete*Picks Hiccup up* Okay, I'll get some food and water. You look after Hiccup and Faith.
ReplyDeleteOkay. *Pats Toothless' head* Come on Toothless, let's go look after Faith and your rider.
ReplyDeleteUm, Loutsly? If it's so dangerous, shouldn't you bring a weapon or two with you if you're going alone?
ReplyDeleterestart at the top.
ReplyDeleteaurora, up here
ReplyDeleteok, I repeated it.
ReplyDeleteUm, Loutsly? If it's so dangerous, shouldn't you bring a weapon or two with you if you're going alone?
Ive got my bow
ReplyDeleteYou should also have a short range weapon in case something's too close to shoot. How accurate are you with the bow?
ReplyDeleteI can hit a hummingbird at full speed
ReplyDelete*Whistles* Okay! Nevermind what I said. You're safe enough by yourself. I'll start a fire while you look for food.
ReplyDeleteokay, will be back in half an hour
ReplyDeletehalf an hour later:
Im back
Sweet. Right on time. Turns out you don't need to build a fire when you have a fire breathing dragon to do it for you. OH! Also, I collected some fir branches as sort of small beds. They're not that bad.
ReplyDeletePerfect. Aww! Hiccup looks so peaceful.. and so hurt
ReplyDeleteAfter finally seeing the film does anyone else almost feel empty, like a "what do I do now?" feeling. I know that there is going to be a new series but that isn't until 2015!
ReplyDeleteAlso I loved the sequel but it also makes me sad because it feels like the first film is drifting away (if that makes any sense). Like I'm actually sad that the 15 yr old Hiccup and gang is gone now.
*hears a roar in the distance and looks around nervously* Um, what was that?
ReplyDeletei saw the whole movie man it was epic
ReplyDeleteI cried when stoick died
I know, right!
ReplyDeleteWell, season 3 and 4 of dragos, which will be on Netflix, 2015, takes place before httyd 2 and may include the 15 year old teens
no idea! Whatever it is, its huge
ReplyDeletefull movie download link http://kickass.to/how-to-train-your-dragon-2-2014-cam-xvid-forza-t9238207.html
ReplyDeleteNo it was confirmed that they would still be 20 or atleast 19 for the new series :/
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't even have Netflix! But hopefully it will be streamed online again.
Well, whatever it is, it probably won't come over he- Uh oh. ugh, stupid irony! And here it comes! Loutsly!! What, is, that! *Points to huge dark shape in the woods*
ReplyDeleteGet intio the cave! Now!
ReplyDelete*Runs into cave* What do we do!?!? It will be able to get us this close to the entrance. *Gulps as she looks further down the long dark tunnel of the cave* I think we have to go further into the cave!
ReplyDeleteGrab Faith! Run!
ReplyDelete*Grabs Faith and starts running* AH! I can't see! I'm so going to fall on my face! Toothless! Light the way! Hurry!
ReplyDeleteToothless: *Sends a plasma blast up the tunnel*
Arvendole: Look! The tunnel splits in two up ahead!
Pride: Get Back, foul beast!
ReplyDeleteBeast: swiping noise
Hiccup: Ahh!
OH! Looks like Hiccup's awake. Not a very opportune time i'd say! Hiccup! We're off the dinghy and we're on Breakneck Bog and we're in this cave being chased by a huge dragon of some sort. RUN!!!
ReplyDeletePride: *appears, carrying Hiccup
ReplyDeleteAt the top
ReplyDeleteOh no! Did Hiccup get hurt by the giant beast's claw?!
ReplyDeletePride: Appears, carrying Hiccup, who has three claw marks on his left cheek and shoulder.
ReplyDeleteAh man! Poor Hiccup! Are you okay? Loutsly! I think you should let Toothless carry Hiccup. It might be easier on his wounds. *Cave gets shalen by huge crash outside* The huge dragon is trying to break in! We have to go further in! I sure hope we don't get lost!
ReplyDeletePride: *looks at both caves and sees the left one being just big enough to allow Toothless to pass but far too small for the enemy,* Down the left! Hurry!
ReplyDelete*Runs for a few minutes, then stops, there's a cavern to the right* Okay, I think we're far enough away. He'll never get in this far. *Walks into the cavern* Look! There's a small lake in here! And a- um,...a forest?
ReplyDeleteHello?
ReplyDeleteStill here. Did my comment come through?
ReplyDeletefor my suggestion to go down the left tunnel? No.
ReplyDeletekay. here it is.
ReplyDelete*Runs for a few minutes down the left tunnel, then stops. There's a cavern to the right* Okay, I think we're far enough away. He'll never get in this far. *Walks into the cavern* Look! There's a small lake in here! And a- um,...a forest?
Ugh, it's not working. It keeps saying, 'hold on, this is waiting to be approved by Berks grapevine'. I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteYes! And it wants to rip us to shreds. Run!
ReplyDeleteI'm way ahead of you!
ReplyDelete*Runs for a few minutes, then stops* Okay, I think we're far enough away. He'll never get in this far. *Walks into a side cavern* Look! There's a small lake in here! And a- um,...a forest?
Kay, I'm mad. it's not working.
ReplyDeleteArvendole: I'm way ahead of you!
its okay, im getting your messages
ReplyDelete*Points ahead* Look! A cavern! we can hide in there!
ReplyDeleteThank Thor! quick! Grab some gauze
ReplyDelete*Grabs the satchel and pulls out a pack of gauze* Oh we better hurry, those wounds are causing alot of blood loss. You know, it's amazing how Faith can sleep through all of this. It's probably her cold though. Let's put Hiccup on that mossy area over there.
ReplyDelete*Rests Hiccup on the moss and uses a rag t wipe the wounds. wrapps Hiccup's shoulder in gauze and smooths a piece of gauze over his cheek*
ReplyDelete*Walks over* Look. I made a bed over there on the thick moss. We can put Hiccup over there with Faith. I need to wash the blood off of my head and you need to clean out your arrow wound. I'll get some water. There's some water in a pool on the other side of the cavern.
ReplyDeleteCan I join?
ReplyDeleteOkay! *wraps his wound as Arvendole ties some gauze around her head*
ReplyDeleteHiccup: *weakly wakes up and pushes himself up* What... Happened? Where are we?
sure. if aurora agrees
ReplyDeleteI'm cool on this end. XD
ReplyDeleteThanks. :) Would it be okay if I was Hiccup? Or is he not very much invloved in the story?
ReplyDeleteHe got hurt and he was unconscious for a while but he's sort of a main character.
ReplyDeletePride: Aurora, do you hear that?
ReplyDelete*footsteps*
So it's okay if I'm him? :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, Hiccup also might have been blinded in his right eye. it should've healed now.
ReplyDeleteOK thanks!
ReplyDeleteYeah. I wonder what it- Wait. What if it's a bad scary dragon!?!?! *Hides behind Loutsly*
ReplyDeleteCan someone explain what's happened, please? *rubs cheek*
ReplyDeleteJust stay back and hug your unconscious girlfriend*points to Faith*
ReplyDelete*looks at Faith* Is she okay?
ReplyDeleteShe's still asleep after she got a cold yesterday
ReplyDeleteYeah. Hiccup, you might want to say hi to Toothless. He was pretty worried.
ReplyDelete*looks over at Toothless* Hey bud. I'm fine- don't worry.
ReplyDeletethe second film of man I cried so much this was the first ever animated film I cried this much at more than toy story 3 such a great film and I thank dean for making such an amazing film but also hate him for making such an sad film I cant wait to work for DreamWorks some day xxx
ReplyDeleteGuys, at the top of the page.
ReplyDeletePride: I don't think your okay, I mean, your wrapped in bandages and you have a rag over your right eye.
ReplyDeleteUm, guys, hate to interrupt, but we still have that sound coming at us. You think it's a dragon? Hiccup! You're a good dragon tamer. Tame the dragon coming at us. It's probably one of those cave dwellers.
ReplyDeletePride: Here, *pulls Hiccups good arm around his back* lean on me and tame this thang'
ReplyDeleteIt'll get better, I'm sure. And Aurora's right, we should think of something.
ReplyDeleteQuick! Think. What do cave dwellers like to eat?
ReplyDeleteMy brother always said the way to a dragons heart is food. It might work.
Bugs maybe. Or other small animals that also like to live in caves...
ReplyDeleteHave just seen today! The best movie, Ive ever seen!!!!! Armageddon of Emotions!! 8D
ReplyDeleteI heard they like salamanders. Or lizards. I'll look for some salamanders at the pool over there.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteoh great! food! yeah, faith can be the appetizer, ill be the main course, You can be the dessert and it canuse HICCUP'S UNBROKEN BONES FOR TOOTHPICKS!
ReplyDeleteHaha! You're so funny! Not. That's not helping Loutsly. Besides, I've got some Salamanders over here. Looks like a whole family of them. *Hands them to Hiccup* There you go! Train it!
ReplyDeleteFunny.
ReplyDeletePride: *Helps Hiccup to limp forward to the beast* If I get eaten, you are so dead, Hic.
ReplyDelete*Starts narrating* And as Hiccup and Pride walk towards the creepy beast, the adience is silent. Oh! It's growling folks! It's walking towards our brave young men.
ReplyDeleteThx^^
ReplyDeleteNOT HELPING!
ReplyDeleteYou just shut it! Hey there buddy. Want some lizards?
ReplyDeleteJeez, lighten up. It's not like we're in a dark cave with a big dragon growling down our necks and some of our friends are about to become CHOPPED LIVER!!!
ReplyDeleteWhoops, sorry. Nerves.
*slightly gives Pride a kick in the shin* Shut up! I need to concentrate!
ReplyDelete*Leans Hiccup against the wall for a sec and b!tch slaps Arvendole a few times before returning to Hiccup's side*
ReplyDelete*Leans Hiccup against the wall for a sec and b!tch slaps Arvendole a few times before returning to Hiccup's side*:P
ReplyDeleteCreature: *sniffs Hiccup and the salamanders before eating the salamanders and accidentlu biting Hiccup's hand
ReplyDelete*screams in pain and falls over*
ReplyDeleteArvendole: *Facepalms and starts narrating again* OH look at that folks! Looks like one of our champions has underestimated our foe! And he's hurt! Again! UhOH. Looks like the foe is coming our way!
ReplyDeleteNot your day, huh.
ReplyDeleteCreature: *looks apologetic*Me: He didn't mean to do that, right Hic?
*grunting in pain* Nope, no not at all. *scowls at creature* Can you please help me up?
ReplyDelete*Puts a hand up* I've got some more salamanders! Anyone want one? No?
ReplyDeleteCreature: licks wound to seal it.
ReplyDeleteme: *wraps Hiccup's hand and stands him up*
there we go
NO!
ReplyDeleteFeed it to the dragon
Creature: *Looks up and licks lips*
Fine. *Edges forward* Here you go weird-dark-creepy-cave-dwelling-dragon. *Holds hand out slowly*
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteCareful. It might BITE you!
ReplyDelete*Stares at the dragon* No I don't think it will. It looks like a baby. You know, I think it's lost. Poor little guy. *Slowly reaches up and scratches it's head*
ReplyDeleteSorry, I'm just kinda stressed after everything that's happened. Plus, I'm barely still in one peice.
ReplyDeleteThat's ok. At least you're awake. Faith is still sleeping over there. Pity. She missed all the excitement.
ReplyDeleteUp too
ReplyDeleteNot to lay another load of stress on you guys, but could you get me something to eat?
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteYeah, sure. Pride? You still have that food you collected earlier before that huge dragon attacked us?
ReplyDelete???
ReplyDelete@Aurora @god_dragons_love
ReplyDeleteMe: Sure. Here, hands Hiccup a fish
I think pride means go restart at the top.
ReplyDelete*takes fish* Is it cooked?
ReplyDeleteI just saw Dragons 2 again today in 3D, and it was so awesome!!
ReplyDeleteYou've got Toothless Hiccup. Ask him. He's really good at it. I already tried it.
ReplyDeleteI saw it in Imax 3D last Friday, it was awesome! Glad you enjoyed it though!
ReplyDeleteBuddy, fire it up? *Toothless cooks the fish with his plasma blast* Thanks bud.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome. I could watch it a million times in a row.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw it in the theater for the first time it was in 3D. XD
Awesome!! I loved it, I can't wait to get it on DVD.:)
ReplyDelete*Groans* Let's make a fire. I'm tired of the dark.
ReplyDeleteFootsteps continue
ReplyDeletemystery person walks into the cave with us
Person: Hiccup! Could it be?
