ToonZone: A dangerous flu is spreading through Berk and Toothless is its latest victim.
DreamWorks Dragon Facebook Page: We know that dragons don't like eating eels but why is Hiccup fighting with one? and There's a reason dragons shouldn't eat eels! But you don't think eating an eel would make Toothless hurt Hiccup, do you?!
These are the only pictures of "The Eel Effect" so far, but if more show up they will be posted below. The next episode is called "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" and will air on February 12.
Here's another image that was released earlier today (Thanks Nat!):
OOOH! Maybe the purpley eel is a special specimen that might be the antidote for the illness. Then the problem is, getting the dragons to take the medicine xD
ReplyDeleteMax, what are you trying to do to Hiccup?
ReplyDeleteI was a bit let down by the last episode, but this looks promising. I agree with the theory that the eel has some sort of medicinal property. Potentially seeing Hiccup set out on an adventure without Toothless to help him should also be an interesting element.
ReplyDeleteSad only 2 but more will come... I hope
ReplyDeleteUm.... I truthfully say.... No comment
ReplyDeleteI think we are all forgetting how long Hiccup's hair actually is.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Hiccup that far under water? He can't hold his breath underwater that long, like in the movie he lasts for about 3 seconds then starts to loose consciousness because of breathing in water? And why is Toothless' mouth red! I know it's probably the stuff that Hiccup is feeding him but why red!
ReplyDeleteis meatlug /sitting/ on toothless
ReplyDeleteis this what i'm seeing
Okay Hiccup is just doing more crazier things then the previous season. (Besides getting electrocuted and falling off a cliff), but I want more images !!!!!!!!!!:o
ReplyDeleteInteresting theory, but if the eel is going to help the dragons, why won't any dragon, typhoomerang excluded, go near any other eel.
ReplyDeleteHiccup looks like a girl except his nose is wrong and good ears are circles with holes. Plus in the pic with Toothless he's probably giving him soup in a bowl or crushed eel guts.
ReplyDeleteIgnore the crushed eel guts.
OMG that first pic is epic!
ReplyDeleteactually, its more funny. Hiccup fighting an eel and seeming to be losing.
His hair is nearly as long as mine!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the eel he's fighting is poisonous to people.
ReplyDeleteGood point...
ReplyDeleteMaybe most dragons can't tell the difference. Say this eel might be a variant color of the eels that dragons fear, but this mutant one has something in it that can cure the dragons, and that is a characteristic only found in that mutation. There are a bunch of different assumptions to be made about the "eel effect" ;)
His hair lol!
ReplyDeleteMaybe? or what if the antidote is an eel? And Toothless had to eat one? good luck with that Hiccup.
ReplyDeleteYeah, because there is no animation to the hair we don't really notice. But now he finally gets a little animation to his hair! And it wont look as plastic as normal! (while he is under water, at least.)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we'll get to know why the dragons hate eels so much, i'm really curious. But this episode really looks promising, and Hiccup's face on the first picture is priceless x) I wonder what the glowing red liquid is, must be the antidote.
ReplyDeleteProbably just looks like that from the shot taken. Might just be leaning up against Toothless beside him while they lay down.
ReplyDeleteI see her legs on both of Toothy's sides. Perhaps Meatlug is acting like a blanket for him xD
ReplyDeleteThat must be a pretty heavy blanket.
ReplyDeleteEasy, breezy, beautiful, cover eel?
ReplyDeleteawesome hiccup is catching eels
ReplyDeleteand is probable feeding eel juice to toothless
thats why hiccup is getting held down by meatlug because he hates eels!
I know this is random, but I just want to say how much I love the HTTYD2 countdown. It seems like just a few days ago it was at 180 days, but now we're at 128! Time flies! :)
ReplyDeleteAny dragon would hate being anywhere near an eel, typhoomerang excluded, including Meatlug. She would've run away at the very scent of eels.
ReplyDeleteHiccup fighting an eel . . . . interesting . . . - _ - ? (it's kinda funny :P)
ReplyDeletein the movie toothless didn't run from the eel just growled and he was pretty close to the eel and the dragon root did'nt effect meatlug because he eats rocks so the eels wouldn't eather
ReplyDeleteThe lighting in the underwater scene looks beautiful. It looks more realistic than the lighting usually is in DOB. At least in my opinion. :3
ReplyDeleteCan we just talk about the fact, that Toothless is UNDER MEATLUG.
ReplyDeletePart of me wonders why you've been using an Asuna icon around here rather than a Silica one. ;)
ReplyDeleteDue to the above picture, I imagine this episode will be along the lines of trying to give a cat a pill.
ReplyDeleteThis should be interesting. ;)
And in the episode where they introduced Torch all of the other dragons fled, Meatlug included, as I recall. Besides, I doubt that Dragon Root is the same thing as an eel. Plus, even though Dragon Root had no effect on her, she was still drawn to it, just like any other dragon and in the movie I was under the impression that Gronkcles craved Dragon nip above all other dragons. I think they also implied it in the Book of Dragons short.
ReplyDeleteI know right? I still remember the day it was at 175 like it was yesterday!
ReplyDeleteO.O Whoa, if that's how an eel is like then I now know why dragons hate them so much.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of disappointed, they are sacrificing story for quality. I like the Skrill episodes, but all the others had less story then the ones from the first season. The three back to back to back FishLegs episodes were bad stories because they were just about FishLegs. Then we had separate Rough and Tough episodes(they should have been together), and three Astrid and SnotLout episodes. I liked it when they had the duol plots in there last episodes but now they are using pointless side plots that are not interesting. But the quality is very good, it's just the plots that are boring.
ReplyDeleteMore like being crushed under a slightly flesh rock.
ReplyDeleteUgh, we already HAD a sick dragon episode; do they really need another?
ReplyDeleteTwo words: Eel Rape.
ReplyDelete"That's as sweet as a bed of roses!" ;D
ReplyDeleteI really want this episode to come out on watchcartoononline.com on mobile so I can watch it. I mean, we already had Dragon Flower, and this is to Treepelt, but anyone can agree that it was a disappointing episode at that. I'm truly excited for The Eel Effect.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if we'll see some Hiccup/Astrid moments in the coming episodes... maybe this one? I'd think we need some sort of moment between them no matter how small to make their relationship in HTTYD2 more believable. At this point in the series, the characters are probably 3.5-4 years away from the plot of the second movie. I think some Hiccup/Astrid moments are definitely in order.
ReplyDeleteXD
ReplyDeleteI wonder were hiccup is with that eel I mean it can't be the oscen cuz the water is way to clear I'm wondering if its in the cove?
ReplyDeleteI like them both its itosc's choice.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that bad, it seem interesting! Plus it is only Toothless this time, and we get to see Hiccup wrestle an eel. Plus I liked Dragon Flower. (But I liked When Lightning Strikes better. It is my favourite ep ever!)
ReplyDeleteI only recall one Astrid and Snotlout episodes, and I agree about the twins. (its Ruff and Tuff by the way. Not Rough and Tough.) And the Fishlegs episodes were a little lame. We need more Hiccup episodes and Dragon episodes and at least one scene of Astrid kissing Hiccup! Even a peck on the cheek! Luckily we have 2 more seasons for all that.
ReplyDeleteHiccup is still a dork, even when fighting eels
ReplyDeleteshhh... it's a secret (;
ReplyDeletelike your new pic velo.
ReplyDeleteHEY GUYS LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!
ReplyDeleteEasy, breezy, beautiful, cover...eel?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteAny higher quality? where did you get it? official?
I have a question: do you think it's possible Toothless got bitten by an eel and that caused the flu outbreak?
ReplyDeleteFake? I'm think it's real, because the vikings and Toothless is looks real. And Hiccup's outfit just a little different.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't a fake. The shading and lighting on Hiccup and Toolthless is definetly real. I don't think that someone create that scene completly with 3D animations and render it with such details only to fake a leaked picture.
ReplyDeleteI think dragons don't like eel because their bolld contains a toxic compound (Ichthyotoxin) on which the dragons react, like an allergy. But its definetly not the cause of a disease.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!!!!! Talk about some major awesomeness :D
ReplyDeleteOkay.... I see Hiccup wrestling an eel, Meatlug on top of Toothless for some reason, Toothless with a red glow from his mouth.......... Am I missing something here ?!?!?!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteBTW, it's the cover of the artbook. xD
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0062323350/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/175-8805889-9695169
??
ReplyDeleteThe terroric eels's arrived xD
ReplyDeleteFinally! I'm confident to say that we're gonna see the spotlight on Hiccup and Toothless in this episode (Duh!) =)
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of Dragon Flower episode of RoB.
I really like that first picture.
Like how they used to confide with each other when there's a problem? Maybe, ..or maybe not.
ReplyDeleteIf dragon's are afraid of eels, Toothless would probably try to get away from the eel. So Meatlug is probably there to keep him from moving.
ReplyDeleteHe still looks sexy T.T I am not worthy! *drools*
ReplyDeleteI think that's hiccup without his armor.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this. The posters just keep getting better and better.
ReplyDeleteIT ISN'T FALE IF FROM THE ART OF HTTYD 2 BOOK ON AMAZON!
ReplyDeleteSimilar to the black widow spider... hmmm... I like it!
ReplyDeleteHehe thanks!
ReplyDeleteyea is there any better quality in that pic where did you find it?
ReplyDeletebut what if the eel is the part they don;t like if he is feeding him the insides of the eel maybe it wouldn't scare them but your probably right
ReplyDeletei thaught that the toxic chemical might be the anidote to the flu?
ReplyDeleteI've always liked hiccup, but seeing him fight an eel and underwater!, oh now he's even more sexier than ever to me.<3
ReplyDeleteWho agrees with me?
ReplyDeleteIs that toothless flying by himself?
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, yes! I get that this tv series is to put more spotlight on the other characters, but it seems like the creators are downgrading Hiccups and Toothless.
ReplyDeleteSO AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI don't really agree on the twins thing, but I get what your saying with the other two. One episode on Fishlegs is enough, I don't see why there had to be three. As for Snotlout and Astrid, the creators seem to be trying to force a friendship onto them. I love the episode "Race To Fireworm Island" in that the episode allowed the viewer to watch Snotlout and Astrid communicate in a way that was not fighting or,in Snotlouts case, flirting. You could truly begin seeing them as more as friends who fight but can still be there for eachother. The episode was also told in a much more natural way then with "The Tale Of Two Dragons". I really hate that episode.
ReplyDeleteNow, My defense for the twins is that the episodes where its centered around one of them is a good thing because they typically seem to be there mostly to provide humor mostly, so these episodes are good reminders in that these are individual characters. They are not a single minded organism that are there for reasons nobody really knows. They are two different characters that can have their serious moments too.
Actually, it's not. It's on the cover of The Art of HTTYD 2, so likely it's a concept render/concept art. Read the fine print. *points to where it says 'The Art of' in the picture*
ReplyDeleteaparently im not super sure, in the second movie poor toothless dies :(
ReplyDeleteThe Art of How to Train Your Dragon 2? I want it now! Yeah!!
ReplyDeleteI agree. It's not just the body, but the proportions are off too, in this picture Hiccup's legs are too short.
ReplyDeleteHigh quality pic right here!
ReplyDeletehttp://animonde.tumblr.com/image/75667000393
It's not fake! It's the cover of The Art of How To Train Your Dragon 2 . Right here:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amazon.com/Art-How-Train-Your-Dragon/dp/0062323350/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1391574469&sr=1-1
I read on this site someones theory on that. They said that since dragons hunt fish in the water, over time they've learned to steer clear of eels, and the reason a typhoomerang wasn't afraid of it, is that they might hunt their food on land. Sorry, I don't remember the persons name or exactly what they said, just what the general idea was.
ReplyDeleteHell yeah since when has he not been!!
ReplyDeleteYeah. But shouldn't how they "confide in each other" not be a "used to" type thing? Romance is a powerful theme to explore. Avatar:TLA wasn't explicit with its romance until the very last episode, but it hinted towards it all the way thru the series. You'd think Dragons could do the same especially since these characters are 15-16 years old.
ReplyDeleteI have already pre ordered it. it is $20 on amazon.
ReplyDeleteYes dear sister he is. why did you not tell me about this poster I was in the other room!
ReplyDeleteSo not gonna lie that last episode let me down quite a bit... The Snotlout/Astrid in that was terrible, and overall it was just an giant step back from when we actually got an Hiccup/Astrid moment in Frozen. Just really hoping we get something after that episode from last week!
ReplyDeleteSorry :p
ReplyDeleteYou guys are sisters? cool! I don't have the art of httyd yet, so as soon as this one comes out I'm ordering both!
ReplyDeleteEverytime I see this image I can't help but think, Easy Bake oven HTTYD edition and it just leaves me smiling.
ReplyDeleteAh man, look how his hair look, he's starting to become his hot self in HTTYD 2 :D
ReplyDeleteYou missed a picture!
ReplyDeleteNew Picture!
ReplyDeletewow thats weird he has these red plasma blasts
ReplyDeletecan you post the higher quality pic the link didn't work for me.
ReplyDeleteNice! That's the one that I found!
ReplyDeletelooks he is out of control or something?
ReplyDeletelooks like a first person view episode XD
ReplyDeleteprobably not
ReplyDeletehey guys changewings can turn into a balloon
ReplyDeletejohntheoceanzap and I are brother and sister yes
ReplyDeleteheres a better pic i think
ReplyDeleteWoah, that last photo has Toothless growing Stoick's beard!
ReplyDeletePS: Hiccup has little sausage fingers!
some other awesome pics
ReplyDeletedid toothless always have spines runing down his tail
ReplyDeleteA fire sword was also used in Game of Thrones xD
ReplyDeletehaha yea stoick the night fury
ReplyDeletewait really or is that just a rumor
ReplyDeleteyea i like the hiccup toothless episodes
ReplyDeleteits like he is wearing a t shirt
ReplyDeletethat would be awesome though
ReplyDeleteand an interesting way to show an episode .ex. like if we could hear snotlouts thoughts while we see what he sees
ReplyDeleteyea the flu probably makes him act wild
ReplyDeletethats awesome!
ReplyDeleteyea they are so cool
ReplyDeleteno its one of dragos troops or stoicks
ReplyDeleteyeah he did. If you watch the film you can see all the spines running down his back when Hiccup is feeding him for the first time at 27:45 after the Deadly Nadder training.
ReplyDeleteyea it is kind of boring to have another
ReplyDeletebut hey at least we get a new episode!
Well, I imagine this is how the episode might go.
ReplyDeleteThey test out why the dragons don't like eating eels by making them eat it and it actually makes go crazy, much like with the Dragon Root.
Astrid: "What's wrong with him, Hiccup?"
Hiccup: "It's the eel Astrid. It must of made him sick, he doesn't seem to recognize me!"
"Calm down bud, it's me."
*Toothless roars at Hiccup and prepares to shoot a plasma blast (see the picture) and then runs into the forest*
They ask Gothi why and ask for a cure which is taken from a rare eel. Hiccup goes out and gets it (fights it like in the picture) and they make a cure.
And then they work together to get Toothless back under control or something which leads to Meatlug having to sit on top of him, like in the picture.
Or perhaps something like the above happens. Of course, I hope not. I don't wanna watch the same story as last week haha.
thats kind of what i said and thought so yea i agree
ReplyDeleteno not down the back down the tail like in this pic
ReplyDeletethat would be awesome another episode with gothi in it
ReplyDeletehaha what if she were in HTTYD 2
ReplyDeleteshe would be OLD!
yeah he has it down his back and continues down his tail is what i meant to say sorry if that was not clear.
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeletethats fine
ReplyDeleteAfter closer observation, I realized that Hiccup's sword doesn't look like a blade. It looks more like one of those OPEN signs in gas station windows. Have a look!
ReplyDeletei am so excited for tonight
ReplyDeleteis there supposed to be a picture posted
ReplyDeleteit seems to be a promiseing episode
ReplyDeletelook at the third pic hiccups sleeve has pixals on it
ReplyDeleteI already know I'm going to love this episode.
ReplyDeleteOkay... That definitely explains why Meatlug was on top of Toothless, but not the eel wrestling or the red glow in Toothless's mouth !!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the reason the outfit is different is because it's most likely concept art for the cover, just like the first one.
ReplyDeleteThere's a reason dragons shouldn't eat eels! But you don't think eating an eel would make Toothless hurt Hiccup, do you?! facebook synopses third pic
ReplyDeletedoes anyone else think that all of the character posters the gang is looking at the bewilderbeast because then that would make sense why fishlegs is scared and why hiccup looks woried yet confident and why the twins are smileing(because they want to blow it up
ReplyDeletehiccup is catching the eel and toothless is sick so he has a red plasma blast
ReplyDeletesweet little viking don't you cry or a berzerker will stab you in the eye.
ReplyDeletei love that line
ReplyDeletetrue, he did grow up
ReplyDeletethat would be epic
ReplyDeleteThat's highly unlikely. Not so much that they would kill off Toothless (still unlikely, but probable enough to make it worth considering), but that they would do it in the second film. That's third film material right there.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a source on this? Not that it's anywhere near impossible, it's just that I don't want to get my hopes up without evidence.
ReplyDeleteA great example why one shouldn't take their dragons for granted ;)
ReplyDeleteWeird fire... It looks like Toothless is about to shoot Hiccup! Or maybe he's just roaring. Yea, he's probably roaring.
ReplyDeleteHow the heck is Toothless flying by himself? Man, I hope that doesn't make it into the movie itself. That would just feel like a copout after all this time, and a slap in the face to anyone who liked the ending of Gift of the Night Fury.
ReplyDeleteWHA?!?!? What the heck is going on in this picture!? (new 3 Pic)
ReplyDeleteOops, yeah. XD
ReplyDeleteHere's how i think the eel effect is gonna go:
ReplyDeleteHiccup is feeding toothless and an eel accidently gets in his food
through out the day toothless act more aggresive and teritorial towards both humans and dragons
everyone in the acadamy brush it off except hiccup
hiccup researches borks notes for anything relating to toothless' condition and stumbles upon the eel affect and an anti venom for it
hiccup and the gang(mostly hiccup) search for the eel that can cure toothless
thats all i got
Toothless got a sickness going around Berk, probably one of those kind of sickness's that effect other animals (Dragons in this case) Differently, his ifre turned red and he can't control it, he goes berserk, and they have to catch him now and fix him.
ReplyDeleteActually, Toothless catches a dangerous flu going around if you read the synopsis. (A dangerous flu is spreading through Berk and Toothless is its latest victim. ) Just letting you know,
ReplyDeleteUsually if a dragon's mouth starts to glow you would expect a fire to start.
ReplyDeleteCheck the Facebook summary that came with the latest picture.
ReplyDeleteI was talking to myself scolding Toothless for being aggressive towards Hiccup xd this episode may be very alike to ''what flies beneath'' when Toothless won't let Hiccup get near him..
ReplyDeleteThat actually makes alot of sense..
ReplyDeleteOMG WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT? IT LOOKS AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteik T.T
ReplyDeleteik T.T!
ReplyDeleteCheck out the Facebook description for the latest picture.
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't see that. K thx.
ReplyDeleteI was laughing my butt off from smart Thorston twins. I was hoping for a delirious Astrid like everyone else but then I realized that would be a bad idea. A REALLY bad idea.
ReplyDeleteThis looks AWESOME! :D
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode!!!
ReplyDeleteI just check for it, it is the cover image for the art of httyd 2. So it will be a little different, it being (or based from the) concept art.
ReplyDeleteIs pre ordering on amazon cheaper or more expensive then buying it after it comes out?
ReplyDeleteOr he has gone berserk and is rampaging. That be interesting to see.
ReplyDeleteDid Snotlout think he was a dragon or something?
ReplyDeleteno he just was talking to them and trying to convince them to follow him and his terror
ReplyDeletetoothless's plasma blasts were awesome
ReplyDeleteThis just makes me want to see the movie even more!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat are you referring to?
ReplyDeleteI loved the twins accents!! I laughed so hard I could barley breath
ReplyDeleteLol, demotivational poster right there.
ReplyDeleteLet me guess, you saw the ep just now on tv? *Pouts* You know some of us have to wait for it to go online. (I'm just kidding around. :) )
ReplyDeleteoh sorry you have to wait for it i will try not to give away spoilers
ReplyDeleteI have to wait for the episodes online.... My tv doesn't register the episodes that quickly, usually takes a week for the episodes to come on for me to watch.
ReplyDeletethe episode
ReplyDeleteCool! This must have been one of the first few pictures of Httyd 2. Looks cool, other than the fact that Hiccup looks like a girl.
ReplyDeletewhat happens!
ReplyDelete*SPOILERS*
ReplyDeleteThose eels in the vicinity of Berk are strange. I was expecting that they could make a dragon sick when eaten, but the fact that they're also evidently capable of transmitting an illness to humans (that's the only reason I could think of to call it eel pox) and possess strong psychedelic properties came as a surprise.
Seeing Hiccup in action was done well as I expected. He's become quite resourceful whether Toothless is available to help or not. The strength of his bond with Toothless was also apparent here. Given the urgency of the situation that he didn't come back as planned, I was a bit surprised that Astrid didn't go to Eel Island herself since she's a better fighter and has a faster dragon, but Fishlegs hasn't had an abundance of face-time lately, so I can't really complain. He handled himself surprisingly well too. It was interesting to see that he taught Meatlug a new attack. Finally, we actually did get a brief moment of Hiccup and Astrid right at the end. That makes two such moments in three weeks, so hopefully the writers have finally decided to stop making them act like the end of the movie never even happened. Overall, this was a much more satisfying episode than last week's.
Did toothless attack hiccup?
ReplyDeleteThat was a pitiful episode... I hated the whole of it. (except for the Snotlout and twins parts)
ReplyDeleteBah! *Looks away from possible spoilers*
ReplyDeleteOkay, makes sense... But I have to watch the episode to believe it .
ReplyDeleteNo, there wasn't, but I made one anyway. I did edit the picture a tiny bit so the line was a bit more visible though.
ReplyDeleteThe sad part is once you get it you can't exactly read it (unless you choose too) until you've seen the movie.. Its bound to have spoilers D:
ReplyDeleteI agree. The animation was good, but it had another small / boring plot to it. And I have to say the Twins are very interesting Characters now, if they keep them intelligent.
ReplyDeleteIt made for a good laugh, but I don't think the twins are going to remain intelligent. It was just meant to be ironic humor that the onset of delirium actually made them considerably smarter.
ReplyDeletefishlegs was good in this one and we got nice hiccstrid to nice build up for their relationship and what do you mean by act like the movie never happened if your talking about the build up in the show don't worry hiccstrid is still developing
ReplyDeleteSo, once again it seems we have a sick dragon episode... More or less, only this time it seems like it much looks like a rabies? Does this probably mean dragons are afraid of eels because they worry they'll end up even more vicious? Toothless seems to about attack Hiccup and... his flame goes red?
ReplyDeleteNice, a very epic poster! it looks sort of like a concept art... or is this is one of the officials?
ReplyDeleteI'll look for the ebook then :D
ReplyDeleteAh Gothi... I'd love to see her again, she hasn't been around much.
ReplyDeleteSo there's Eel Island too?
ReplyDeleteI like the twins, they're actually pretty funny. It's kinda shame the writers turn them into much more thrill seeking idiot for comedy purposes. If you watch the movie and the shorts and notice them very closely, you should see they are not as stupid or brainless as they are in the series. Sure, they're not smart, and like to fight, still, but still behaves much normally in the movie.
