My only complaint is that they shortened HIccup and Toothless' flight compared to the teaser for the movie and I also wish that they hadn't used music with lyrics for the scene. I was hoping for an epic orchestral score for that scene. Maybe they'll change it before release. Even if they don't, it's still a good first five minutes.

ReplyDeleteAs I pointed out on the Itchy Armpit post, the next scene following this one is when Astrid meets up with him. Following that, I'm pretty sure they'll take notice of the smoke in the distance and go investigate it as seen in the trailer.
ReplyDeleteWhat did you guys think of the Jonsi mix for the flying sequence? I'm not sure if that's supposed to be part of the final cut, but it really is sooo anti-climatic compared to the "Beyond the Clouds" track by Audiomachine in the trailer. I was really hoping to have a 100% orchestral composition for the entire movie with the exception of the obligatory Jonsi original song in the credits.

I love it, its so amazing! But i don't really think there's a problem with the music because it doesn't interfere with what hiccup says and yah we never know if they could change it.

It's pretty common for the exact lines to change a bit from the rush job they do in the trailer to the actual finished dub of the film. The translation studios probably didn't have the finished cut of the film until recently, or maybe they only just got started, idk.

I'm not so much worried about spoilers as I am about ruining that MASSIVE wave of excitement and nostalgia that I will get when I get to see these first five minutes in an actual theater... and then get to see the rest of the movie after it!
ReplyDeleteExactly! Its just not the same. I don't want to know what Hiccup's opening speech is or see the very beginning until I can see it on the big screen in all its beautiful glory. If it was any other part of the movie, I'd probably watch. But the very beginning? Heck no, that is way too important to me to watch for the first time at home in low quality.

Haha! Wow, we feel the same! It's not that I don't really know what the scene would be about, it's that I don't WANT to see it now. I want to see the beginning when I get to see the whole thing. I want to see the "This is Berk" and the dreamworks logo and just MELT. But I want to do that in theaters... not fifty days before I'll get to see the rest of it! I mean, then when you get to see it in theaters, it would almost be like "yeah, I've seen this bit already, hurry and get to the stuff I've not seen yet..." And that would be just awful!
ReplyDeleteIt really sucks to wait until I get home from school just to share my opinions on the clip. My summary will probably end up looking like a great mix of everybody else's, but here it goes.
ReplyDeleteThings changed on Berk DRASTICALLY. The audience may not even remember it was Berk from the last film. Even Stoick's beard is styled differently lol (the way it's braided). I just love love LOVE Tuffnut so much in the race clip, "Yeah, she still hates you!" rofl! Him actually being protective now. Hiccup's narration was priceless as usual, so in character it was great!
The original teaser flight scene: Not everyone agrees, but I loved the Jonsi remix with the flying. Though I wish it were longer. It feels like parts were cut out that are going to be in the final product, especially in the transition from flight clip to Itchy Armpit clip. There was supposed to be a scene when Hiccup and Toothless crash into a rock wall at that point.
All in all I'm elated to see the amazing visuals in these short moments of the film. Just put in some transitions and I'll be totally satisfied. Lastly, before I click Post, Yesterday my family went to watch Noah, and as we were about to walk down the stairs, we saw an ENORMOUS HtTYD 2 poster hanging from the ceiling! And even more posters and banners were inside! I'll put up a separate comment for the picture I got of a life-sized poster of Hiccup and Toothy. o3o
