Hi dragon fans! I have some cool plans for this site in the future, including more interviews and many, many more dragon giveaways! However, as things currently are, the site doesn't quite have the budget to give out tons of cool dragon things to everyone. (And the last thing I would want is to cover it with ads.) However, there are plenty of awesome things I can offer people who help support Berk’s Grapevine!

  • Want to contribute your own questions for interviews with artists, producers, and more?
  • Interested in receiving extra dragon news, info, and photos before anyone else?
  • Or in chatting with other fans (and Toothless!) on the Grapevine's private discussion board?

If you can’t support the site, don’t worry: you will still get to see all the cool things in store for Berk’s Grapevine! But if you do, you will not only be responsible for making Berk’s Grapevine even more fun and dragonesque, but you’ll be receiving these awesome opportunities as well!

And by the way, thank you so much for your support of this site already through your comments, emails, and help finding new dragon things to share! This site would be nothing without all of you!

    I never really comment, or participate that much in the community, but what IcelandicEel has done here is pretty incredible. Maybe the discussion board will help me getting into the community here, but either way the site deserves my money.

    Anyone else realize in that episode where Ruff and Tuff took over Dragon's Edge, and the "no S policy" they still said Astrid and not Atrid? XD

    No hate from this hiccstrid shipper. I thought this shot was very nice. The angle before, with their shadows coming together was an interesting decision...made it seem more intimate to me, so I wasn't sure whether the creators intended it to be platonic or not. What's your take?

    I wish I could help but I can't, and I'd have the borrow the cash from my mother since I still live under her roof; but we have a huge butt medical bill to pay and I had to get a job for the summer to support her an myself.


    This is an amazing community that you have created, and I'm glad it's still up and running. I've been here since the first trailer of the second movie and this is, by far, my favorite social media site!

    I really don't think there is any question about romantic tension here. They are friends, and Heather is alone and hurting, and Hiccup cares about that. It is a kind gesture on both their parts, not anything more or less. Anyway, that's my opinion. (By the way, LOVED those episodes).

    I think it may come from the fact that Astrid has kissed Hiccup openly in front of the entire village twice now... so it seems to be kind of backtracking for her and Hiccup to feel awkward around each other. Hiccup even had a pet name for her in GotNF (which he carried over to the second film). I'm not saying it is some kind of major crime of being out-of-character, but Astrid has shown her feelings very openly about Hiccup before, so it seems strange that she would hide it. Anyway, that's my two cents. I'm not particularly upset.

    When Heather didn't kill Dagur I was really disappointed. Even though he's family, he doesn't deserve any mercy because of what he's done. Heather was going to make a right decision for once in a very long time. But Hiccup had to intervene and she chose to run away, again. Now Dagur will sail free again to massacre whatever and whoever he wants. But I guess Dagur has to stay alive for at least the rest of the season because he'll be important for plot etc etc. :/

    I think the real reason this moment bothers hiccstrid shippers is because Heather has gotten more development as a character, as well as intimate moments with Hiccup, in two episodes than Astrid has gotten in two whole seasons. I am an Astrid fan as well as a Hiccstrid fan, and personally I found this moment very touching. You're completely right; it's purely platonic and nothing more than brotherly/sisterly friendship. But at the same time, I couldn't help but feel a small ache, knowing that this kind of tender, hurt/comfort moment is exactly what I've always longed to see between Hiccup and Astrid. Astrid has a back story too, and is emotionally scarred in her own way. Let's not forget that she watched her uncle and childhood hero get struck by the Flightmare when she was only five, and grew up thinking she would one day have to meet the same fate (Astrid and Heather's backstory's are actually somewhat similar in this way, and that's beautiful). But we've seen so little of her real emotional journey in the show that it just kind of saddens us to see Hiccup to give so much of his empathy to someone like Heather, when we've never really seen him give it to the girl he is going to marry someday.


    Anyway, that's been my experience. I definitely am not upset. I love Heather, these episodes were AMAZING and both brought me close to tears. But I do understand the ache hiccstrid shippers are feeling, and it's disappointing that they are turning that ache into anger an hating on two of the best episodes and one of the most beautiful brother/sister relationships in the HTTYD universe. It's giving us a bad name. :)

    That's an excellent point! I hadn't even thought of it as a "Luke and Leia" fake out, but looking back, the mysterious intimacy of that moment really hightened the drama of the reveal later on. :)
