Some of you may have pulled an all-nighter watching all 13 Race to the Edge episodes at once. Others of you prefer spreading them out over several months. Either way, if you're craving some serious dragon discussions, stop by Berk's Grapevine on Saturdays for the episode post of the week! Of course, there will be plenty of dragons throughout the week as well!
Even if you've seen them all, the posts will include plenty of high-quality screenshots and gifs from each of the episodes, because it's not easy taking good screenshots of Netflix! Just remember to keep the future episode spoilers to a minimum for the people who haven't seen them yet!

ReplyDeleteI just finised watch all 13 episodes and i'm crying. the wait will be unbariable. I do have to say "The big man on berk" was one of the weakest episodes. and I didn't like it. The whole point is that it was very strange and unlikeable. There where parts that I liked but over all the episode didn't sit well with me.

Overall the series has had a great start off run and looking forword to new dragons episodes!

Man they have upped the ante for this series!! Love the style of humor a lot more than the previous seasons, but then again, I suppose they're targeting a slightly more mature audience. And is it just me, or is the quality of the animation better too? Loved the Snotlout and Fishlegs episode XD and the BFF time Astrid gets to spend in episodes 10 and 11 where she finally gets to relax and have fun like a regular teenage girl. While I find Dagur to be in desperate need for psychiatric attention, I can agree with him on one thing: Hiccup is certainly the lady's man! Man did he pull a Neville Longbottom 😍 hope someone can record the series soon :)

ReplyDeleteYou know what's kinda funny, in the 4th episode When darkness falls, Snotlout and Hiccup said that they needed weapons and they couldn't find any. I'm surprised. In every other episode, they seem to pull weapons out of nowhere! What's stopping them this time?!

ReplyDeleteDagur was awesome here. But that's not to say there was one part that bothered me: When he started narrating, making us acknowledge the cliffhanger. It distracts from the tension. Besides, there's an entire episode where the twins do that already. Otherwise, I enjoyed him. And ahem, they clear a lot of mistakes they did with Heather, particularly how the riders are with her. So much better. I don't know if that counts as a spoiler.

ReplyDeleteI just keep thinking, the amber-goo hardens around them. How does one prepare room for a heavy breath when their body is about to be molded in that goo? They all might be in shock if it wasn't for the action movie logic in which fast running is never followed by panting. But even then, this is intense.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I was disappointed too. I like Heather more this season than before (at least she has some flaws now...too much of a Mary Sue last season), but I really feel like the show is pushing her way too hard. Considering how little anyone knows about her (especially given her secretive nature), Hiccup's fixation on her and how easily he dismisses her negative qualities is puzzling. He is *very* aware and vocal about everyone else's shortcomings (including Astrid's) so it just seems out of character and a bit forced.

ReplyDeleteI know, I loved the Hiccstrid, but I hated the Hiccthear or whatever it's called. Hiccup and Astrid are a couple since the Httyd wiki says "Longtime bf and gf" I felt like they disrespected Astrid with the shadows and that hug. If anyone says Hiccstrid is forced, its Hiccup and Heather. I actually thought I'd like Heather this time, but considering she hugged Hiccup, I just feel like Astrid was out of it and Hiccup and Astrid barely talked once in the entire episode. Sorry, but I really disliked that part, and I feel like it was betraying Hiccup and Astrid's ACTUAL relationship D:

ReplyDeleteI think DWs thought the whole dead-mother-Valka-is-still-alive-but-hasn't-returned thing in the second movie was enough family drama for the Haddocks, and also Heather wasn't even in the movie so in the end her being Hiccup's sister wouldn't work out so well. But if she was his sister, that would mean "something" would have to happen to her to explain why she wasn't part of the sequel. I don't think anyone wants to imagine something bad happening to Heather.

They could have given her to Oswald (for some reason) and made her and Hiccup think she was Oswald's daughter. And he gave her the horn as a sign he still loved her, but made a different story as to why she has it.

ReplyDeleteI think its odd that some people think that there wasn't enough Hiccstrid in the episodes. First things first, they kinda sat together on the beach and stared up at the moon and they both slept there, together. When Astrid and Heather had 'girl time' and talked about boys, Heather said she thought they were dating, and by the way Astrid acted its pretty obvious that she likes him. Plus Heather even said she liked Fishlegs so hicther isn't something we need to worry about, even if they did hug. And finally Astrid wrapped her arm around Hiccup's shoulder and told him basically that as long as hes around she'll be fine.
Anyways I'm done rambling about this, Hicctrid will become a thing sometime in this series we were kind of promised that. We should be happy with the Hiccstrid we got, its a lot more then what we got last series.
He really is a fabulous dancer.

ReplyDeletefirst things first, Dagur couldn't have killed him when he escaped because he only had a limited time amount because he had to use all the time he had to get a boat (which belonged to Trader Johann). Secondly, he found the map to get to the graveyard of ships which means that he did't know where it was. Plus he couldn't have gotten past the traps without setting them off or making it noticeable that he was there. Also the 'gang' got to the ships first. So there is no way he could have had enough time to set up Alvins corpse and set up the cage in which he held the gang while hiccup found the dragon eye. So basically, the main reason alvin can't be dead and on that boat is 1, Time conumation, 2, dagurs knowledge, 3, traps and being able to avoid them without setting them off or allowing his location to be noticed, and 4, If alvin was dead, the whole of outcast island would be in caos.

Heather coming is definitely a plus. I don't really get the hate most fans have at her. She's pretty sly, a bit manipulative, yet loyal to her friends. And she's close to both Hiccup and Astrid. Somebody better create a picture of Toothless and Windshear nuzzling. LET IT HAPPEN.
With Jurassic World still fresh in my mind, episode 12 was just the icing on the cake.
It could still work. Fanfiction writers, make the Hiccup and Heather brother and sister story happen!
